Privacy policy
e-Guruji works from your birth details. We take that seriously. This policy says, in plain words, what we collect, why, who sees it, how long we keep it, and how you can see, correct or erase it.
1. Who is responsible for your data
e-Guruji is a service of Legal AI Coding Private Limited ("we", "us"), a company registered in India. Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (the "DPDP Act") and the Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, 2025, we are the data fiduciary for the personal data described here.

2. What this policy covers
It covers the e-Guruji service on WhatsApp, the website at e-guruji.com including signed-in pages, and any e-Guruji mobile app we release later. It does not cover WhatsApp itself, which is run by Meta Platforms under its own terms and privacy policy, or the websites of temples and payment providers we link to.
3. The personal data we collect
| Data | Why we need it | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Your WhatsApp mobile number and profile name | To identify your account, reply to you and send the daily guide | Consent, given when you first message us |
| Your name and the form of address you prefer | To address you respectfully in your language | Consent |
| Date, time and place of birth | To compute your birth chart, star (nakshatra), rasi and dasha periods, from which every daily message is derived | Consent |
| Whether you are a man or a woman, and your approximate age group | Only to choose the correct honorific in your language and to identify children (see section 4) | Consent |
| The calendar tradition your family follows, and your gothram, kula deivam or family temple if you choose to tell us | To select the right panchangam and to perform archana in your name | Consent |
| Your current city, or a location you share on WhatsApp | To compute sunrise and all timings for where you are, and to find temples near you | Consent |
| Messages, voice notes and questions you send us, and our replies | To answer you and to keep the thread of the conversation | Consent and performance of the service you asked for |
| Birth details of family members you add | To compute their charts and perform archana in their names | Your confirmation that you are entitled to share them (section 4) |
| Booking and payment records: what you booked, when, the amount, the payment reference | To fulfil bookings, issue receipts, settle with temples and meet tax law | Performance of the service; legal obligation |
| Technical data: message delivery status, device type reported by WhatsApp, time zone, and basic server logs | To deliver messages reliably and keep the service secure | Legitimate use for security and operation |
We do not ask for, and ask you not to send, government identity numbers, bank or card numbers, passwords, or health information. Card and UPI details are entered on the payment provider's screens, never ours.
Birth details and family tradition are not special categories under the DPDP Act, but we treat them with the same care as if they were: they are shared only as set out in section 6 and never used for advertising.
4. Children and family members
e-Guruji accounts are for adults aged 18 or over. A child under 18 can be added only as a family member by a parent or lawful guardian, who gives verifiable consent on the child's behalf when adding them. We send nothing to a child directly, we build no profile of a child beyond their chart, and we never use a child's data for any purpose other than what the parent asked for.
When you add any family member, you confirm that you are entitled to share their details with us. If a family member asks us to remove their details, we will, and we will tell you.
5. How we use your data
- To compute your chart and daily panchangam, and to send the daily guide, alerts and mantras you subscribed to.
- To answer your questions. Our answering layer ("e-Guru") uses artificial-intelligence language models and voice models, under rules written and reviewed by pandits. It will not answer questions about illness, lifespan or legal outcomes, and it is not a substitute for a doctor, lawyer or financial adviser.
- To take bookings, collect payment, pass the details the temple needs to the priest, send you proof, and settle with the temple.
- To send you receipts and, if you ask, invoices.
- To keep the service secure, detect abuse and fix faults.
- To show aggregate numbers, such as how many archanas have been performed. These never identify you.
We do not sell personal data. We do not use it for advertising or share it with advertisers. We do not use your messages or birth details to train general-purpose artificial-intelligence models, and our processors are contractually barred from doing so.
6. Who we share data with
We share the minimum needed with the following, each acting on our instructions and for the stated purpose only:
| Recipient | Purpose | Where processed |
|---|---|---|
| The temple and priest performing your archana | Receives only your name, star and gothram (and the family member's, for a booking in their name). Nothing else. | At the temple |
| Meta Platforms (WhatsApp Business Platform) | Carries messages between you and us. Meta handles messages in transit under its own terms. | Meta's infrastructure, which may be outside India |
| Google Cloud | Hosting, database, file storage and the website | Mumbai, India (asia-south1) for our servers and database; website hosting may use other Google regions |
| Google Maps Platform | Turning a place name you type into coordinates, and finding temples near you | Google's infrastructure, which may be outside India |
| OpenAI | Language model used by e-Guru to understand and answer questions. Receives the text of your question and the context needed to answer it. | Outside India |
| Sarvam AI | Indian-language speech and text processing for voice notes | India |
| Razorpay Software Private Limited | Payment collection, receipts, refunds and settlement to temples. Card and UPI details go to Razorpay directly; we never see or store them. | India |
| Professional advisers and auditors | Only where required for accounts, tax or legal compliance | India |
Where data is processed outside India, it is for service delivery only, under contract, and subject to any restrictions notified by the Central Government under section 16 of the DPDP Act. We will also disclose data where a law or a lawful order requires it, and we will tell you unless the law forbids it.
7. Where we keep it and how we protect it
Your records are stored on Google Cloud in Mumbai, India. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access inside our company is limited to the people who need it to run the service, each under a confidentiality obligation, and is logged. Secrets and keys are kept in a managed secret store, not in code. If a breach affecting your data occurs, we will inform you and the Data Protection Board of India as the DPDP Rules require.
8. How long we keep it
| Data | Kept for |
|---|---|
| Account, chart and family details | While your account is active, and 12 months after your last message to us, after which we erase them unless you ask us to keep the account. We will remind you before erasing. |
| Conversation history | While your account is active. Erased with the account, or earlier on request. |
| Booking and payment records | 8 years, as required by Indian tax and company law, then erased |
| Server and security logs | 90 days |
| Data you asked us to delete | Erased within 30 days of a verified request, except records the law requires us to keep |
9. Your rights
Under the DPDP Act you may, at any time and free of charge:
- ask what personal data we hold about you and receive a copy;
- ask us to correct or complete it;
- ask us to erase it (see how to delete your data);
- withdraw your consent, with the same ease as you gave it: send stop on WhatsApp and the daily guide stops at once;
- nominate another person to exercise these rights for you if you are unable to;
- raise a grievance with our Grievance Officer, and if you are not satisfied with our response, complain to the Data Protection Board of India.
To exercise any right, message us on WhatsApp from your registered number or email advocateproind@gmail.com. We verify every request before acting. We acknowledge within 48 hours and respond in full within 15 days; the DPDP Rules allow up to 90 days for complex requests, and we will tell you if we need longer.
10. WhatsApp, cookies and the website
Messages travel through WhatsApp. Our WhatsApp business account is operated through Meta's WhatsApp Business Platform; Meta does not have access to your e-Guruji account or chart, but it does process message content in transit under its own privacy policy. We only ever send you messages you have asked for: replies to your questions, the daily guide while subscribed or on trial, and transactional messages about bookings and payments. We never send marketing to someone who has not asked.
The website sets no advertising or analytics cookies. Signed-in pages use one strictly necessary session cookie. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when the page loads.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that affects you, we will tell you on WhatsApp before the change takes effect and ask for fresh consent where the law requires it. The date at the top is the date the current version took effect.
12. Deleting your data
You may ask us to erase your personal data at any time. The full instructions are on the data deletion page, which is our published data-deletion instruction for the purposes of Meta Platforms' developer requirements. In short: send delete my data on WhatsApp from your registered number, or email us from an address you have used with us, and a verified request is completed within 30 days.
